Expanding
their ministry of feeding the poor, IMPACT Ministries wanted to give something
to the surrounding neighborhood by developing a community garden in their
side yard. Using volunteer work, the ministry wanted to provide vegetable
gardens, to inspire both the youth and the neighbors to get involved, as
well as a spiritual place to allow people a quiet place for prayer and
contemplation.
Following
their lead, NEM Architects developed plans including raised flower beds,
sun and shade gardens, gazebos, as well as areas to commemorate other ministries
in the church. Developed in the Spring of 2005, plans for construction
are to be started in the Summer of 2005.
